Ice Control FAQ
How does a salt spreader work?
A hopper or tailgate spreader feeds material — by auger or chain — onto a spinning disc that throws it across the road or lot, with controls to set how much goes down. A drop spreader lets material fall straight down in a set path instead of throwing it.

Hopper, tailgate or drop spreader — which do I need?
A VBX+ hopper spreader carries the most material for commercial routes. A TGS tailgate spreader hangs on a receiver hitch and keeps your bed free for smaller jobs. For sidewalks and walkways, a drop spreader or walk-behind puts material exactly where you want it.

Which spreader keeps salt off lawns and plantings?
A drop spreader like the Exact Path lays a controlled path about 40" wide without throwing material to the sides — the best choice around landscaping and building entrances.
